Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities
4a: Reflecting on Teaching
As an educator, consistent reflection and analysis of practice and work is imperative to ensure quality and growth year to year as an artist and educator.
This reflection is a comparison of before starting this program and once I obtained my Masters in Dance Education at Rutgers University.
4b: Maintaining Accurate Records
At my student teaching to ensure accurate records are maintained in the classroom and record students attendance and participation, we used Genesis which allowed for daily attendance and grades to be easily input.
4c: Communicating With Families
Communicating effectively and timely with guardians and parents to ensure they have an understanding of important information, concepts being learned in the classroom allows for consistency and more conversations to be had outside of the classroom about art and dance. To the left you will see a welcome letter to the parents of the students participating in the after-school program, Kinetic Connections. With a mix of English and Spanish speaking families, the letter are sent out in both English and Spanish.
4d: Participating in a Professional Community
In a constantly evolving field, it is important to stay active and participate in the growing professional community. These images are selected from National High School Dance Festival (NHSDF) in Union City School 2023, hosting a Mason Gross School of the Arts (MGSA) class l in support of the EdM program that discusses provided insight into the program and our work at Paul Robeson's Kinetic Connections focusing on Social Emotional Learning and Social Justice.
4e: Growing and Developing Professionally
Most recently, I have been selected as a 2023 Future Dance Festival Finalist at the 92NY alongside 8 other choreographers. This work, A Subject Under Consideration, was selected by Janet Eilber, the artistic director of the Martha Graham Dance Company, and was performed on April 15, 2023.
This summer, my newest work, Kinematic Indeterminacy will be performed at Spring for Springs festival in Metuchen, NJ and Dumbo Dance Festival at Mark Morris Dance Center in Brooklyn, NY. This piece was created while in residency in January-February 2023 through Shared Space at Mark Morris Dance Center.
